Doctors are also responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed medical records. In addition to their clinical duties, doctors often serve as managers and leaders in healthcare facilities.

Patient Examination and Diagnosis

Doctors examine their patients, taking a comprehensive history and performing physical exams to evaluate symptoms and other factors. They use the information gathered to develop an appropriate treatment plan for their patients, explaining the possible risks and outcomes of each option. They may also order diagnostic tests such as blood work, X-rays, and MRIs to aid in their diagnosis.

Communication and Patient Education

Doctors must be able to explain complex medical concepts in a clear and understandable manner. This involves listening to patients, addressing their concerns and questions, and actively engaging them in the decision-making process. It also includes providing thorough and comprehensive patient education, including medication instructions, follow-up appointments, and home care recommendations.

In addition to their medical responsibilities, doctors must be able to handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and insurance paperwork. This can interfere with their ability to spend time with patients and can lead to feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction. Doctors must be able to prioritize their workload and maintain effective working relationships with their colleagues. They may also be required to travel between healthcare facilities, which can pose additional challenges.
